BOOKINGS DURING COVID 19
Unfortunately, like all restaurants in the country we are currently closed due to the national lockdown. However, there is light at the end of the tunnel - and if the Government's Roadmap goes according to plan - we expect to reopen on Monday 17 May.
We have now opened bookings for all dates from then - and have been overwhelmed by the response already - so thank you to everyone who has booked...we really do appreciate your support after such a difficult year.
Full details of what restrictions we will be operating under when we are allowed to reopen are not yet clear. But please be assured we will be adhering to them to ensure that family and friends can get together in a covid safe environment. What we think the rules could look like are below...but please check closer to the time of your booking for any updates.
So, if you have a birthday or anniversary coming up - or maybe you have a host of belated celebrations from 2020 and early 2021 to still mark - send us an email and we will get it penciled in.... we all need some things in our diary to look forward to after what we have all been through.
As we are shut, all bookings are currently being taken by email. You can use the contact box below or email@example.com. Our aim is to respond to all emails within 24 hours, but please bear with us as the team remains on furlough at this time. Please note, depending on your computer security, sometimes our emails go into junk mail.
We really do look forward to hearing from you - it is lovely to at last be able to reconnect with people - and we can't wait until May when we can finally see everyone in person.
Other Things We Think You Should Know About Coming To El Greco In These Covid Times
We do not know yet exactly what rules we will be permitted to operate under when we do reopen. But based on what the Prime Minister said when launching the Roadmap -and how we had to operate last summer - we think it could look a bit like below ... but please check back closer to the time of your booking for up-to-date information.
The Rule of Six looks set to return. This means we expect to be able to allow 6 people from up to 6 different households on one table. We also believe we will be permitted to take more on a single table, if from only 2 households. Our maximum for this will be 9 persons initially - which is the size of our biggest "socially distanced" table. We suspect we will not be permitted to take multiple table bookings for larger groups, at least at the beginning.
All customers could be still required to wear face coverings at all times in restaurants when NOT actually seated at a table - ie on arrival, on departure, when accessing toilets. We expect that socially distanced table rules will remain. In our case many of our tables now have dividers between them. If that is the case, our capacity will remain at about a third. Booking in advance will therefore remain essential.
Because of the reduced capacity - and to allow for cleaning between customers - table allocation times are likely to operate again....particularly at busy times. As a guide, most evening tables for 4 - 9 people will be either at 5pm, 6pm, 7.45 or 8.30pm and allocated for 2.5 hours. Evening tables for 2/3 people will generally be at 5pm, 6pm, 7pm, 8pm and 9pm and allocated for 2 hours. There should be a lot more flexibility for tables in the day - just ask. It does not look like the dreaded curfew will return (hooray!).
It is likely that tables will generally not be available until their booked time, so coming early may result in you being asked to come back later. Unfortunately, like last summer, it's likely that we will not be able to offer an inside waiting area or a pre- dinner drinks service, as our bar will probably have to remain closed, at least initially, for covid safety reasons.
As last summer, if you are going to be late we ask that you phone and let us know so we can advise if we are still able to accommodate you. Tables will not generally be able to be kept for more than 15 minutes to allow enough time for you to eat in a relaxed manner and then for us to sanitise the table and chairs before the next customers.
We will once again be asking customers not to attend the restaurant if they have any Covid symptoms. If you do need to cancel, for whatever reason, please do let us know as soon as you can. It will enable your space to be allocated to someone else and also ensure that your name and contact details are removed from our records - we expect we will be once again required to keep customer details for 21 days for Track and Trace purposes.
For The Safety Of Our Customers And Staff We Expect:
Customer toilets will be available for diners only. Customers on the ground floor will be asked to use the toilet (also disabled and baby change) on the ground floor. Customers on the first floor will be asked to use the toilets on the first floor. This is to minimise movement around the restaurant and allow for regular cleaning.
Hand sanitiser will be available at each entrance and other key points within the restaurant. There is also a hand sanitiser dispenser on EVERY table.
Unfortunately, we are probably going to be unable to offer our famous Greek nights and Greek dancing shows at this time.
We apologise for the formal way in which all this sounds - going out for a meal should be a relaxed and pleasurable experience - and we promise that we will do all we can to ensure that is still the case...but we also feel it is important that we are open and transparent with our customers once again as regards the Covid rules and the protocols we have in place to keep us all safe.
We are still all in this together and we still all have to do everything we can to keep everyone as safe as we can.
Still Nervous About Coming Into A Restaurant?
Why not think about coming at lunchtime - or even better in the afternoon - particularly on a weekday. These are quieter times in the restaurant and particularly good for people still apprehensive about going anywhere with people.
Whatever you decide, we look forward to welcoming you soon to El Greco
